Building Economic Futures for Americans with Disabilities

The Real Economic Impact Tour (REI Tour) is a national, public/private initiative assisting low income persons with disabilities with asset building strategies, free tax preparation and filing assistance. In the 2008 filing season REI Tour partners prepared over 90,000 tax returns in 62 cities. Over $81 million in refunds were received by persons with disabilities.

What can we do with your support?

In 2009, there will be 84 participating cities.

We expect to prepare 180,000 tax returns and produce $150 million in refunds for people with disabilities and/or their families.  In order to accomplish this we need support at both the grassroots level and the national level.  At the local level, we can put you in contact with the Disability Initiative in one of the participating cities so you can adopt a site, help prepare returns or help with outreach to those who need to know about the availability of the services.  At the national level we can use your support to expand our service and reach more local communities.
