Building Economic Futures for American Veterans with Disabilities
The REI Tour also focuses on getting information to
veterans with disabilities to help them build economic futures.
The following are recent initiatives related to veterans:
VA National Initiatives: The U.S. Government Accountability Office has just issued a report entitled VA National Initiatives and Local Programs that Address Education and Support for Families of Returning Veterans. The entire report can be accessed at: http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-09-22R
- House Bill 4883: To amend the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to provide for a limitation on the sale, foreclosure, or seizure of property owned by a servicemember during the one-year period following the servicemember's period of military service.
- House Bill 4884: To amend title 38, United States Code, to make certain improvements in the home loan guaranty programs administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.

- Stand Downs - Stand Downs are one part of the Department of Veterans Affairs' efforts to provide services to homeless veterans.

Left to right – IRS Tax Consultants John Lulay and Brandi Bryne and U.S. Congressman Tom Feeney (24th FL District). This was the 5th stand down that Congressman Feeney has attended. IRS made contact with over 50 taxpayers completing 18 Stimulus and/or Telephone Excise Tax returns and assisting with transcript requests and other inquiries.
