REI NETWORK WEBINAR: Identity Theft – Tools and Resources to Help Clients Protect Their Identity
An estimated 17.6 million individuals were victims of one or more incidents of identity theft in 2014, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Persons with disabilities are not immune to this issue and at times may be more vulnerable to having their identity compromised. Join National Disability Institute and the Federal Trade Commission for an overview of how to protect your identity, how to recognize scams, strategies to follow if one’s identity has been compromised and tools and resources that can help an individual if their identity has been compromised. Federal Trade Commission will also highlight a new tool - IdentityTheft.gov, the federal government’s one-stop resource to help people report and recover from identity theft.
Presenter: Cindy Liebes, Federal Trade Commission
