TICKET TO WORK: Virtual Job Fair
Join the Ticket to Work program
for its next virtual job fair
on March 16, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Sponsored by the Social Security Administration, the fair will connect Social Security disability beneficiaries to companies that do business with the government and have job openings for individuals with various skill and experience levels. These companies are particularly interested in hiring qualified people with disabilities. Participating employers will have job openings in the following locations: New Jersey; New York; Pennsylvania; Washington, DC; Delaware; Maryland; Virginia; West Virginia; and Puerto Rico.
The job fair will be held online
and, for those who use assistive technology, will be screen-reader friendly. Participants will be able to talk with job recruiters via chat forums and one-on-one messages, and can visit virtual resource booths to ask questions about job accommodations, work incentives and legal issues that sometimes create barriers to employment for people with disabilities.
To participate in the virtual job fair, you must:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 64;
- Receive Social Security disability benefits;
- Be using your Ticket to receive services from an approved Employment Network (EN) or Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agency; and
- Be ready to work!
To register for the fair, contact your EN or state VR agency. If you need help finding an EN or VR agency, call the Ticket to Work Help Line at 1-866-968-7842 (V) or 1-866-833-2967 (TTY), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
