Direct Support Professionals Week is in Full Swing
From now until Saturday, September 19th, we invite you to join the countless disability organizations, governments at all levels and the 53 million Americans with disabilities celebrating the accomplishments and selflessness of direct support professionals (DSPs).
Everyday, DSPs across the country work tirelessly with people experiencing all types of disabilities to ensure they have the opportunity to live and work in their community and/or the setting of their choosing. However, for more than a decade, our country has experienced a steady decline in the overall number of DSPs. Unfortunately, this has had a tremendously negative effect on the livelihood and well-being of numerous persons with disabilities.
That is why it is imperative all of us work together to raise awareness on the need for more individuals committed to helping their fellow Americans with disabilities reach their full potential. You can help do so by visiting ANCOR’s DSP Week webpage. And, don’t forget to join in on the conversation online by using #DSPWeek.
In the meantime, please be assured we, at National Disability Institute (NDI), will continue to advocate for additional resources so that all Americans with disabilities have the needed supports to live in their community.
